Overview: PHP & E, Public Health Planning and Evidence

The Public Health Planning and Evidence (PHP&E) division of RRCNE is mandated to give technical assistance for decentralized planning and health systems strengthening in the North Eastern States of India. This practice area is not only important for developing the health plans and programs responsive to the needs of population, but it is also vital for budgeting and resource allocation in a systematic and equity sensitive manner.

Key focus areas of the division are Health System strenthening, technical assistance in District Health Action Planning (DHAP) and State Programme Implementation Plan (SPIP) preparation, organizing periodic programmatic review of the National Health Mission (NHM), rolling out National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), partner coordination, to undertake evidence based studies in the field, Research study/Evaluation and to utilize the field observations and findings in further strengthening the health sector, implement Comprehensive Primary Health Care and capacity enhancement of the health care service providers in regular interpreting the data available in different portals, and to use the same during the field activities.

Overview: Knowledgement Management

The Knowledge Management Division (KMD) of RRCNE under the guidance of the parent KMD Division in NHSRC will work in various thematic areas under NHM to address the needs of the public health system in all eight north-eastern states by undertaking implementation research (IR) to support the Programme implementation and collating the evidence and knowledge from the field.

As per the identified research priorities by the States and the NHM-IR committee, the division shall undertake implementation research for health system strengthening (HSS) in the following five areas:-

  • 1. Service delivery.
  • 2. Community Processes.
  • 3. Human Resources.
  • 4. Urban Primary Health care.
  • 5. Health Care Technology.

Our research will help create knowledge repository for good, replicable and innovative practices for effective implementation of interventions under National Health Programs. We aim to provide evidence-based policy recommendations and hence enable health systems to build resilience.
